Mistakes You Should Avoid When Planning a Wedding

By IslaWright More Blogs by This Author

However, even though some issues you cant really predict, there are many that you can avoid if you plan your wedding properly. With that in mind, here are some mistakes you should avoid when planning your wedding.

Booking a venue before knowing the number of guests

Unless youre having a small wedding at your familys home, booking a venue is one of the first things you should do, as you usually have to do it weeks, sometimes even months, in advance. However, before you do that, you should already have your guest list or at least an idea of how many people you want to invite. After all, you dont want to book a venue only to realize that it cant hold all your guests. Also, although having a few empty seats is not a problem, you probably dont want to pay for too many empty seats either.

Not thinking through your entrance and departure

First impressions matter, so when arriving at your wedding, you want the whole scene to be memorable. Similarly, you dont want to just walk away from the ceremony you want to leave the stage in style as well. With that in mind, you should plan your mode of transportation in time. For example, you can choose wedding car hire and come to your wedding in a beautiful Bentley or Rolls Royce limousine. After all, you can never go wrong with a stylish limousine, as it can match any wedding theme.

Being unfair with the plus one policy

Speaking of your guest number, be consistent with your plus one policy. Usually, couples who are married, engaged, or living together should be invited together even if you dont know your friends significant other. Besides that, you may choose to allow everybody over 18 to bring one person, or you might want to limit it only to couples whove been together for over a year. Whatever you decide, stick to it, and try not to be unfair to the singles.

Getting overwhelmed by details and ideas

With so many gorgeous photos and creative ideas you can find on Pinterest and Instagram, its easy to become overwhelmed by all the options you have and all the details you could do. However, keep in mind that this is your wedding after all, and only you can make it unique and truly yours. So, when you do decide on a theme or a symbol that you want to include stick to it. Moreover, many of the things you see online are unrealistic and created just for show and also very difficult to recreate with a reasonable budget. So, feel free to look for ideas online, but know where to draw the line.

Not hiring professionals

Whether were talking about a wedding planner, a photographer, or a catering service, these professionals are a must for every wedding. After all, there will be plenty of things for you to think about, and you really want to be as stress-free as possible on your wedding day. So, no matter your budget, make sure to hire professionals for the most important parts of your wedding, and things are more likely to go smoothly.

Your wedding day is probably one of the most important days in your life, so it goes without saying that you should prepare for it as thoroughly as you can. With that in mind, try to avoid the above-listed mistakes, and your wedding day is more likely to be memorable and without any unpleasant surprises.
