Getting Some Perspective

By E.M. Wollof from SLN More Blogs by This AuthorFrom the The Cold Boot Blog Series

Hello and welcome to The Cold Boot! This blog will dissect some of the more interesting happenings in the world of technology and science. While I would love to say that this first article involves a cutting edge tech innovation, it does not. Instead, I thought we might start by gaining a little perspective and stepping away from the hustle and bustle that our over-stimulated minds face on a daily basis.

No worries though, this wonderful dose of reality comes to you from one of the greatest technological marvels ever created by man, The International Space Station.

Turns out that massive piece of awesome floating around up there actually does something more than take up the first couple of blocks on your Engadget feed. What you are about to view is a time lapse sequence of photographs taken with a camera by Ron Garan and the crew of the ISS. The glory of this video is that it is raw footage! Check it out:

Earth | Time Lapse View from Space, Fly Over | NASA, ISS from Michael König on Vimeo.

How about that for a little bit of breathtaking beauty?

Makes updating the facebook status and balancing the check book seem a little trivial doesn't it?

The world we live in is full of fast paced technologies and mile a minute, life-altering discoveries...make sure you take some time to step outside of your "comfort" zone and realize that the discoveries are not there to complicate your life, they are there to make it easier to enjoy.

See you next time on, The Cold Boot.

  • That was pretty awesome! New appreciation for time lapse...

  • While the time lapse was extremely awesome, I am would posit that the pictures being taken in outer space had something to do with it being amazing.
