What probiotics should I use for my cat that has diabetes?

Dear Dr. Char, you have recommended for my cat Penie, who has elevated blood sugars, that you generally recommend probiotics. I have a friend who uses Proviable -DC and likes it. Do you think this would be an safe brand for a diabetic cat? It apparently has FOS (fructooligosaccharide) in it. What is your opinion? Penie had more teeth removed, more antibiotics, and now another UTI. She also has such a sensitive stomach and got violently ill from Clavomox (vomiting blood and diarrhea) We had to do Convenia again. 7 times now in the last 1 1/2 years. I feel she truly needs probiotics after all these antibiotics. I just didn't know if the Proviable DC would be safe also for a cat with such a sensitive stomach. Thank you for your feedback Patti

A non chicken flavored probiotic

Hi, So many dogs are allergic to chicken these days, including mine! How about creating a probiotic that is NOT chicken, but beef flavored, or even peanut? Surely, you could create some options other than "natural chicken flavor"!

Probiotics

Dear Dr. char: I would like to know if my friend's dog, Max (a Rottweiler mix), can take the probiotics for his joint problems. He is 11.5 years old, and is on the Arthro-ionx for 2.5 weeks ago, with minimal improvement at this point. He is taking some medications, and I want to make sure it is O.K. to give him this product. He is on the following medications: 1. S3 soft chews synovial support supplement2 squares 2. Tramadol 500 mg. 2/day for pain 3. Rovera (Carprofen) chews 100 mg. cap., 0.5 cap. a day for inflammation Thank you for your help. Noura Kassis

Probiotics

Hello Dr. Char: I wanted to let you know that my dog, Zoe, an 8 year old German Shepherd, was itching terribly, and scratching a lot, especially since it has been so hot here in the Los Angeles area. I started her on the Probiotics that you have, and she is barely itching. Her skin and tail were full of scabs, and it has all cleared up. I am very grateful for this product. I had ordered it because I thought it would be good for her immune system, and did not think it would help the itching and scratching, but it certainly did a good job. Thank you for having the product.

Starting Probiotics

My dog started on Amoxicillin. Should I give Probiotics to her while on the drug or wait until she completes it? Some people say that the drug will take away the effectiveness of the probotic. If I should give it while on the drug, how long should I continue the Probiotics and should I double the required dose?

Vetionx - Probiotics

Dear Dr Wilson Our little doggie, an 11-year-old, Maltese-Shih-Tzu, had Liver Cance Surgery in April of 2013. From that time on he has been only on natural therapy and has been doing good. Thank God! I came across your Probiotics and would like to change him to that, however, some of the ingredients, such as, Brewers yeast, Canola oil, Lecithin (the source?), etc, would this be suitable for him? He is on a grain-free diet, organic stuff, etc. Just want to make sure it will be okay for him. Will await your advice. Thanking you, kindly! Kind regards! Carmel
