Loss of hearing and blindness in dog

Hello, my name is Anne and my dog's name is Ginger, a female Pomeranian, weight 7-8 lbs, age 17. We adopted our sweet Ginger from a shelter when she was about 8 months old. She is going blind (or is already blind), is experiencing hearing loss and almost all her teeth are gone, with only her canine left. Also she may be experiencing joint pain. She sleeps most of the day. She doesn't play much anymore, but can still take walks. What can I do to improve the quality of her life at her age. I believe she is in pain.

Sudden blindness in dog

I just have a question about my 9 year old Rottweiler. She suddenly went blind almost three weeks ago. I have taken her to three doctors, one being an optometrist an no one could tell me why she suddenly went blind. Her first symptoms were reddened eyes, mucous in eyes, and swollen. They put her on prednisone acetate and it is not helping. I am thinking she is allergic to something and that is what caused her blindness. Her eyes are still reddened and they seem like they are getting swollen again even with the prednisone. I can completely change her diet and get rid of the Nupro supplement I have been giving her for her arthritis. What else can I do if it is a true allergy? I know she may never get her eyesight back, but I am afraid of stopping her Nupro because she moves so much better on it. I am going to try your medication Arthro-IonX and see if that helps her. Any suggestions would be great. I have spent upwards of $800 to try and figure this out and have gotten nowhere except to keep giving her prednisone. Her ALKP was elevated the last visit to the vet at $800. She can't take NSAIDS because that is what raised it before. As soon as I stopped the NSAIDS for her arthritis, her ALKP came back down to normal. I would greatly appreciate any advice as what to do...Thank you so very much!! Belinda
