Fabulously Floral // Afternoon Outing

By Victoria Swanson More Blogs by This AuthorFrom the What's Your Style Blog Series

Urban Exchange consignment is always on trend with their clothing and accessories. Don't be deterred by the prospect of wearing a consignment item. This upscale consignment store makes sure all their items are clean, steamed, and ready to sell. Consignment shopping is a fun way to save money while recycling fabulous fashions!

Floral prints are all over the fashion headlines this year. Whether it is a cute coat, dress, pants, or shirt, floral prints can be easy to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Do you like the floral print look? What type of floral print garment would you prefer to wear?

Share your thoughts!

When I walked into Urban Exchange this adorable floral print skirt caught my eye! Bright, Bold, and Wow - is exactly what I saw in this fun piece for an afternoon outing. Pairing with neutral tones helps keep this piece from looking crazy hot mess to fashionably fabulous!

The skirt, by Awear, is an a-line frame with a thicker waist band. I love how a-lines flow away from your hips, giving the illusion of even proportion from waist to hips. The colors in this skirt are amazing: Vibrant blues, oranges, purples, greens, yellows, and even a hint of black makes this skirt a must-have in your wardrobe!

Did you notice the fun design in the front of this top? The J Crew tank top in its neutral color is a great way to offset the busy-ness of the skirt. When shopping for a tank, look for a little more flair, than the basic ribbed tanks. You can even switch the top with another solid color to brighten this outfit even more. If you dare, consider mixing it up with a pattern on top. This will put you right on track with the mismatch pattern trend too!

The off-white scarf is always a great accessory for any outfit. Especially for cooler summer evenings.

Adding jewelry is a fun way to jazz up any outfit. When pulling off a high-pattern outfit, I recommend simplifying your jewelry. A cute watch by Fossil and some wrapped bracelets will add zest to this outfit!

An adorable hobo crossbody purse, like this one by Jenrigo in a faux croc pattern, is a great way to pull this ensemble together. The beautiful tan color helps tone down the outfit, if that's what you're going for.

What shoes would you pair with this outfit? I chose these adorable sandals by Banana Republic to be the final HOT piece in this ensemble! The natural-toned color ties in nicely with the other neutral items, allowing the skirt to be the statement piece! But just for kicks, consider wearing these stunning blue patent shoes by Aldo.

Don't be afraid to try out those fun floral prints. Play it up with other pattern prints, or keep it on the low-down with neutral pieces. Have fun adding other pops of color in your accessories too (like I did with the option of the blue shoes). So get busy, and get your floral on!

  • I like some floral, but it really depends. There is so much variation! I personally tend toward calico when it comes to floral prints - small flowers acting a lot like polka dots.

  • Very cute tank! I wonder if the people that turn the clothes in on consignment ever go back and see how their "tank" or what ever item looks great with this skirt and purchase it all over again?

  • Ha, Ha! That would be something I would do! I would be like, "why didn't I think of that!" or "that looks so cute with that!"
