The Shoe Revolution
Shoes, shoes, shoes... I just love saying that over and over again! I LOVE shoes! They are an amazing accessory that can dress up (or down) any outfit. I've even hosted several shoe parties at my house, very much like the well-known purse parties, but with shoes. Although I am no Imelda Marcos, my shoe collection has been known to exceed 90 pairs.
I have platforms, wedges, flats, stilettos, kitten-heels, sandals, flip-flops, mules, slingbacks, dress boots (short and tall), cowboy boots, rubber boots, snow boots, golf-shoes, athletic-shoes, and even a pair of Crocs (yes, I just admitted that). I'm sure there is a shoe type missing from this list of mine, but I have at least one of almost every imaginable type.
I would love to discuss all these types of shoes, but I decided to focus on my top three favorite styles, the wedge, stilettos, and boots.
The other www - World Wide Wedge
I love the wedge! This is one of my favorite go-to shoes for spring and summer! The wedge was created by an Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo in the mid 1930's. He used cork and wood, due to the short supply of leather goods during the World Wars, and the wedge is still widely made with cork and wood to this day. The wedge is one of the most comfortable, higher-heeled shoes. This is because the heel is one part that runs the length of the entire shoe and is thicker at the heel.
They are often mistaken for the 70&'s famous platform, but the comfortable wedge is a shoe that will never go out of style!
Tall, Taller, Tallest - Stilettos
Stilettos are sexy! French fashion designer, Roger Vivier, created the stiletto in the 1950's knowing it gave a different body posture, with a sexy stance and vibe. The stiletto varies in length from 1 to 10 inches, and is often made with a slender metal stem or shaft. Often the stiletto is seen as the femme fatale shoe, as a woman wearing a pair often commands power. A woman that is walking in a pair of stilettos not only conveys sexiness, but also demands respect. The stiletto is not the most comfortable shoe; however, one must sacrifice comfort for the femme fatale look.
Alluring, slender, and pleasing to the eye, the stylish stiletto will always be one of my favorite, fashionable pair of shoes!
Country, Casual, Work - It is all about the Boots
Awwwww, the boot! The boot has been around for thousands of years, with no defined inventor. Boots were commonly worn by Native Americans, cowboys, and military personnel for protection while riding horseback. Boots are still used for protection, but their original purpose didn't stop the fashion industry from turning the boot into a statement piece. The fashion world stepped in, launching the boot into the fashion frenzy. Boots come in all different sizes and lengths: ankle, half-boots, knee-high, and thigh-highs. If you are unsure how to accessorize an outfit, pull out your favorite pair of boots, and viola, the outfit is made! Boots are an easy fashion staple to fall back on.
Whether you love the cowboy, motorcycle, or the infamous Ugg boots, boots are here to stay!
As the famous Marilyn Monroe stated, "Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."I think she was onto something.
