Urban Exchange consignment in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a hip, trendy, high-end fashion, and affordable consignment store that I frequent often for my shopping pleasure. I rarely walk out without adding a chic piece from their store to my wardrobe!
Shopping second-hand is the rage! Who doesn't want to wear high-end items like Michael Kors, Gucci, Prada, and Miu Miu; or everyday, name brand items like Gap, Banana Republic, and J. Crew at the fraction of the retail price? Better yet, Urban Exchange will take your gently used fashion items to resale, and you can earn money back!
I enjoy checking out their stylist mannequins all done up. They offer great ideas on how to accessorize, mix patterns, textures, pair shoes, jewelry, and purses. I want to share their vogue style, fashion forward thinking, and beautiful ideas to inspire you to spice up your wardrobe.
"What's Your Style" is a weekly blog that will showcase consignment shopping with fabulous flair. Every week, I will be showcasing an Urban Exchange consignment outfit to give you an opportunity to pick apart the pieces; choose one piece, or all, to add ideas to your everyday wardrobe.
Don't live near Urban Exchange? No worries, check your neighborhood's local listings for an upscale consignment store near you.
Spring Fling :: Casual Date Night
This week's outfit is showcasing a mix of patterns, layering, and a pop of boldness. This outfit has an overall fun appeal that can be worn for dinner at an outdoor eatery, going to see a movie, or just strolling through a park!
What I love about this outfit is how you can take layering to another level. It is ok to have more then one focal point within an outfit, just keep your makeup and hair simple when doing this type of wear. It is also important to choose if you want the top half or the bottom half to be the focal. All over is way too much to the eye.
I love the bold pieces of jewelry, especially the choker necklace (so much that I ended up buying it!). The choker, combined with the beaded long, arrowhead, wooden square, and gold rock necklaces, offers a funky combination of fun. I felt that the choker stole the show!
The khaki skirt, by Gap, is a great way to tone the outfit down. Ombre is the rage, and the two-tone scarf, definitely gives that effect. The polka-dot scarf sets its own mark; check out the difference on how to wear the scarves. The printed pink tank, by Banana Republic, offers a lightweight flair under the black sleeveless vest (no tag).
I love animal prints when done in a minimalist way. All over animal print is a big no-no in my fashion opinion, but a hint of "Hear My Roar," is perfect! This fun belt (no tag) does just that.
The final piece, the shoes! The cute wedge sandal by Lucky Brand is a great way to top off this adorable date-nite outfit!
