How to look fabulous in 5 easy steps

It is summer so naturally the first thing on everyone's mind is getting tan. But stop right there, did you apply sun screen before you walked out the door this morning? If not, you better do it. Even on a clear day, you are still at risk for getting UV damage. Some foundations have built in sunscreen, which is perfect for on the go living. SPF 40 or higher is good enough protection from the sun. 

Sometimes we like to relax and exercise, and hairstyles differ in these settings. But before you pull your hair into a tight messy bun, think of the hair band you are using. Does it have a golden band on it? If so, that can snag your ends. Use loose hair ties, with no golden band on it to reduce broken ends.

I am going to provide five steps on how to look your best this summer, so that you can look your best even when you don't feel your best.

1. Stay moisturized.


 


Just because the sun is out, doesn't mean you're not in danger of dry skin. Use a moisturizer to keep your skin feeling fresh, and wear body lotions to rejuvenate skin. Anything with jojoba or shea butter is a must. Wear sunscreen.

2. Adjust makeup hues.

Wear light eye make up in the day, and use darker shades at night. If you are unsure of what colors to use, try to get a makeup kit that has a few colors to choose from. Try and experiment what colors you like best.

The price may seem much, but it lasts all day. You will not have to reapply it and it does not clump or crease on your eyelids. 

3.  Get an adequate amount of sleep.

Even if you don't feel tired, sleeping 7-8 hours can make getting up easier the next day, which can set the stage for your whole day. You can find ways to relax before bed by reading, taking a warm bath, or cutting caffeine earlier so that you are not having a hard time falling asleep. Drink fluids, water, and adjust lighting so that you are having an easier time to think of sleep. Your body will thank you for it the next day.

4. When in doubt, eat healthy

Replace unhealthy foods with vegetables, and if possible drink water with every meal to cleanse your body and re-hydrate.  Eat salads, but cut down on the additives in your meal because it may be taking away what is a healthy meal and making it into something unhealthy. Drink water, or replace carbonated drinks with tea or water. Now this doesn't mean you can't splurge once in a while, but keep it to a limited number. Reward yourself to a treat, but don't make it a constant thing.

5. Exercise

Whether you are running or walking, 30 minutes a day can make a difference. Mix up your routine, and don't stick to a single plan. A sweat inducing work out can reduce stress and also cleanse the toxins in your skin. Make sure to shower properly after and wear tennis shoes that are comfortable for your feet as well, so that every step of your workout is a pleasant one. If you are sore, give yourself a day to rest and recover. Don't push yourself when you are in pain, because you won't be feeling any better. Know your limits.

Even if you can't do all of these steps right away, give yourself time to adjust. Don't make life a chore, and make goals fun with rewards. See yourself improving over time, and take note of what works and what doesn't. Be realistic in the end, because this summer you are going to look fabulous and feel great!
