Fall has officially fallen. It’s time to consume cider and donuts around a fire with a group of friends with an acoustic guitar playing in the background. The landscape is rapidly changing from the vibrant green of summer to the fantastic spectrum of color autumn boasts, and along with that, cooler temperatures. To ease the acclimation to the continually cooling days, we are forced to evolve our wardrobe. Never go another fall without your autumn essentials.
A good pair of jeans is like an old friend. They are always there when you need them, comfortable to be around, and they don’t break down under pressure. My absolute favorite pair are the Levi 527 slim boot-cut jeans. They are incredibly durable and comfortable.
The boot-cut is the best fit for me, but you likely have a different body type than I do, so try on a few pairs and see what you like! Whatever style suits you make sure they are the proper size and are high quality. The worst jean-related stories always revolve around broken zippers or ripped denim (and sometimes combustible pants, trust me, it’s no good). No one wants to go to a hayride with ripped pants.
Side note: To accompany your awesome pair of jeans, get a subtle belt that fits your style.
Hoodies rock. End of story. They are comfy, super stylish, and crazy practical. Anytime you head out with your friends, throw a hoodie in the car when it gets cold, or maybe it’s already chilly enough to wear it. Hoodies can double as a pillow in a pinch too!
My personal favorites are zip-up hoodies. They are 1,000 times easier to put on than a pullover and if it’s too warm, there is always the unzipping option. The hood is also helpful when you want some semblance of a pillow when sleeping in a car or when you need protection in the rain. Also, hoodie pockets are great for smuggling candy and drinks into movie theaters. All of these practical bonuses, coupled with the inherent warmness that a hoodie provides during make it a fall swag essential.
It seems like this year camo has taken the clothing world by storm. I don’t know why, but I can’t say I don’t like it. When I say “camo,” I am not referring to modern infantry digital camo or the hardcore hunting leafy tree camo, just old-fashioned earth-colored camouflage patterns. If you decide to rock the look, make sure you don’t overdo it. (Example: wearing camo pants with a partial camo shirt is overdoing it.) Just pick one item. When done properly, it can look great and totally fit the fall wardrobe. It’s a good idea to stick to darker colors rather than tan one unless you want to be identified with the United States Army, which I definitely don’t.
I will be the first to admit it: Sometimes the holy hoodie doesn’t cut it - especially as we get closer to the winter. Once the wind gets stiffer, I just need something more. Enter the super trendy jacket. Super trendy jackets are the garments of the gods. They look best with an overall dark color scheme (especially during the fall) and have the power to put the ultimate touch of awesome on any ensemble.
Though trendy jackets are the most tempting things to buy ever, don’t impulse shop. Make sure it looks and fits well without losing practicality before you purchase one – or ten.
Personally, I have a scandalous love affair with slim-fitting jackets with unique buttons and quirks. Find the jacket that defines you and own it, be it a denim, leather, cotton, or whatever jacket.
Long-sleeved henleys are choice for a good autumn day. Like any other long-sleeved shirt, they have the flexibility of covering your arms or letting them breathe by rolling up the sleeves. On top of that, they have the buttons that chill out at the collar, adding a bit more flare to the entire thing.
Usually it’s good to keep henleys simple, leaving out the patterns and logos. To me it’s the cool fit and the awesome buttons that are the focal points of these shirts. One last tip: Henleys look particularly awesome under the aforementioned trendy jacket.
Happy Fall Swag.
