Animal Arthritis Remedies: Cosequin vs. Dasuquin?

Dr. Char, I am hoping you can help to point me in the right direction.  I have a friend who's dog is showing terrible signs of arthritis in his back legs and she is hoping to start him on a supplement to help, yet the data available seems to be complex and conflicting. Many seem to be harmful to the internal organs such as the kidney and liver. Have you heard of the supplements consequin or dasuquin? Would you recommend either or? Or have you heard of something else that might help.... this family is very open to any ideas! Thank-you for your time! Hope you are doing well! Jessica

Lumbosacral Syndrome in a 14-year-old cat

Hello, My 14 yr old cat, who for some time was pooping outside the box, was diagnosed (palpation of lower lumbar area and then radiograph)with this condition. The vet classified it as minor (stage 1) and believed it was causing the accidents as it would hurt to poop (crouching, pushing involved). We started a course of Metacam (0.7 ml per day-she's 14.3 lbs) and saw an improvement in her attitude and return to using the litter box. I don't want to keep her on Metacam long term, but I don't want her to return to her having accidents either. I need long term pain/arthritis control. I looked at Promaxol and Arthro-IonX. Can you recommened either for my situation? And how long would the treatment take for effects to be apparent? Thanks

My cat is limping - is it arthritis?

Our cat has developed a limp in his front left leg. We have taken him to the vet twice over the last 3 months and they say x-rays do not show anything but that it is probably arthritis. How can we tell for sure? Should we seek out another vet for a 2nd opinion? He does not act like it hurts to touch his leg or shoulder but his limp is getting worse. The vet gave us Metacam but this only slightly helps. Please give me your thoughts!

My cat is getting weaker...

Our cat began taking steps slowly bringing the hind leg up weakly, not playing and just not himself. Vet is convinced its arthritis - suggested fish oils. Two days have passed and he seems weaker. He can jump up on the bed, but he just lays down and stays there. She did not seems to want to take blood as she does not think he shows signs of organ dysfunction. I notice sometimes a subtle shaking. I hope he's not in pain. We are not into western meds, but I so want to do the right thing. If you have any words that might help. I came on line and saw your products. We are into homeopathy. Thanks, Allyson

My cat has arthritis and cancer - is Arthro-IonX the best for his overall condition?

Hello, My 15 year old cat was recently diagnosed with a tumor around one of his intestines. I started using your Arthro-Ionx shortly afterwards because he also suffers from arthritis. I am wondering is this the best for his overall condition? It is possible there are other cancer cells in his liver as well. Thank you.
