My 4 month old puppy had a crusted over sore that popped up next to her eye. I thought it was a scab from over scratching. Days later it became this bright red wound. It got larger and there is no hair there. I took her to her vet and a culture was done to rule out puppy mange and she gave us an antiviral cream. The cream made it way worse. I think it made it too wet and greasy. My vet told me to get a particular brand of over the counter jock itch cream. Did not work. I got shampoos with all sorts of ingredients that combated fungus. It seemed to be working for awhile then stopped. The wound swelled and bleed. Anti inflammatory creams only worked for so long, then I went the antibacterial route. Worked wonders at first then we went back to square one. She always pants a lot when it flames back up and now she is having stomach problems. Its been 3 weeks and I'm getting concerned about infection or bacterial spreading to her eye. My vet seems to be stumped. At this point I'm thinking this is going to scar and no hair will ever grow there. Is there other treatments available for something like this? Maybe she needs to be on meds that works internally? I'm at a loss.
