Health Questions & Answers

My dog, Beau is a minipoodle, 25 lbs, and has had allergies to chicken. We believe just diagonised with diabetes in August. He has had 2 acl sugeries and now has a bad limp on the right leg which had the ACL surgery in 2012. Which formulas would be best for her, she also had skin sores that come and go most especially around her tail and urogenital area but have also appeared on chest, stomach and legs. What might you recommend?

Dear Rose,

Along with giving insulin I would choose Dia-IonX. Dia-IonX helps to control the symptoms of diabetes and it's therapeutic mineral base helps activate the enzyme systems in the body that help with healing. In addition give digestive enzymes with each meal, Canine probiotics, and Omega 3,6,9 daily. Dia-IonX will help the body better utilize the other supplements for a faster response. In addition make sure that you offer sufficient water free of chlorine and fluoride. A regular exercise schedule is also helpful in moving glucose from the blood and into the muscles which will reduce the blood glucose. It is important that you monitor the blood glucose levels so that you can ask your veterinarian about adjusting the insulin dosage when necessary. You can add in Promaxol as necessary but working on the diabetes is what I would focus on first.

Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
