Health Questions & Answers

Dr. Char, I have just ordered Artro-ionx and am praying for good results. Reading thru the info you recommend adding enzymes,MSM and probiotics to his diet. How do I do this? Will I find these in a particular dog food? Can I purchase them like vitamins? Are they present in a veg or meat I could add to his diet? Also, when you say 'a raw diet of veg&meat" do you mean that I should be feeding him uncooked vegs & meat? I would appreciate any help you could can give me to improve Max's (11 year old Golden Retriever) quality of life. Thank you.

You can find the supplements at a health food store and your veterinarian may have some of it. My favorite probiotic is Purina's Forti Flora, which comes as a sprinkle to be added to the food. It is sold by veterinarians. The other things can be purchased at health food stores. Because Max is older I would gradually introduce a grain free diet rather than a raw meat diet for now. There are some companies such as Nature's Variety that sell frozen raw meat dog foods but if you were to use it I would give a combination of the two, but relying more on the kibble. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
Dr. Char
