Our 12 year old black lab appears to be suffering from diabetes. He's also been dealing for the last two years with degenerative myelopathy and hypothyroidism. His mood is fine, but he drinks water all the time and is going pee in his sleep (also dribbles during the day). Given his other medical conditions and diet/medicines, we are not interested in insulin treatment. Does this product normally help dogs at this stage and without insulin? Note that he doesn't have any symptoms, yet. thanks

Dear Michael,

From what you say I do not know if you have had your veterinarian actually diagnose diabetes or if you are thinking it is diabetes because of the increased water consumption. Dia-IonX helps to control the symptom of increased thirst and it's therapeutic mineral base helps activate the enzyme systems in the body that help with healing. In addition I like to give Canine Probiotics and Omega 3,6,9 daily. Dia-IonX will help the body better utilize the other supplements for a faster response. In addition make sure that you offer sufficient water free of chlorine and fluoride. To address the Degenerative Myelopathy I would give a choline/ B vitamin supplement such as GeriForm. You might also find consulting a veterinary chiropractor to be helpful in improving movement.

Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
