My 9 yr old Westie constantly has red and inflamed front
paws and nail beds. Vet always tells me that Westies are known for
their allergies. I wash her paws with a Chlorhexidine shampoo 4%, I
have tried Betagen spray, she has taken allergy pills (with a
steroid), over the counter allergy medicine such as benadryl, and has
been on many different antibiotics. These things only help
temporarily. I live in AZ and Spring and Summertime is a particular
bad time for allergies in pets and humans. She licks her front paws
until she develops sores.
I feed her Avoderm dry food mixed with some Avoderm canned food. I
give her a Nyzymes Antioxidant treat and Omega 3 liquid daily. I
also use Suzie's Tartar Liquid in her water for tartar control.
Will your Derma-IonX help with her front paw licking? The pads on her rear paws get red also, but they are not as bad as the front paws.
