Health Questions & Answers

I have a 13 year old West Highland White Terrier with bad arthritis in her back left knee. She is diabetic and receives insulin shots morning and night. I also give her liquid Glucosamine in her food daily and she takes Rimadyl for the pain/inflammation, but you can literally feel the hardened knot around her knee and she has almost stopped using this leg altogether.

She is good spirited otherwise and I would really like to give her some relief.

First of all are there any negative side effects I should be concerned about with her diabetes? There are various medicines she is unable to take for this reason so I just want to make sure this wouldn't aggravate it.

Also, can you provide me more information with regard to the ingredients? What makes this so effective?

Thank you.

Dear Chanin,

I would try Promaxol to reduce the pain and help healing to begin. Promaxol would be a good choice for your dog. It contains the stronger LM potencies. After improvement is seen then you can switch over to Arthro-IonX. In addition it is helpful to give digestive enzymes with each meal, MSM, probiotics, and fish oil. The oligotherapeutic mineral base found in the IONX products helps the body to better utilize the other nutritional substances given for a synergistic response and faster healing. Homeopathics are generally very safe because they are acting on an instructional level and so can be used with other physical products without negative interactions. There is a lot of information about the ingredients on the website if you click on the many tabs.

Also be sure to give sufficient fresh water that is free of chlorine and fluoride. The other thing that is sometimes beneficial is to have a certified veterinary chiropractor check for body alignment. Misalignment can create knee and back problems. Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
