I now have an almost 13 year old female black lab. The vet says that she has injured her back leg, so I put her on Arthro-IonX. It has helped quite a lot, but she drinks often so we put her water in an ice cream bucket, so it is hard to tell how much she gets. I gave my precious black lab that passed away a year & a half ago turmeric and it helped tremendously. I had been told to give him 10 mgs a pound and I made the capsules myself which took quite awhile. She walks quite well, but it just seems like she misses a step once in awhile, I am wondering if I shouldn't be giving her turmeric too. She weighs 68 pounds. How many mgs should I be giving her. I am hopeful I can buy them this time and not have to make them.

Dear Connie,
If a standardized extract containing 95% curcumin is used the dose is 5 mg/ pound twice daily. Otherwise the dose is 10mg dried herb/pound of body weight three times per day. When giving ARTHRO-IONX I prefer to split the dose and give half with breakfast and half with supper. If symptoms are well controlled then I would give the whole dose on one of the meals.
