Health Questions & Answers

I hope you can offer some help. We first noticed that our 14 year-old Jack Russell began drinking excessive amounts of water, and though being completely housetrained, began to urinate in the home frequently. He has lost a significant amount of weight despite still having a good appetite. He often regurgitates his food after eating despite our efforts to break foods down into extremely small pieces. We came home from an outing recently to find that he had lost complete sight and hearing all at once. Maybe a stroke? His eyes look like avery cloudy cataract covering, and his hearing is nearly zero. He wanders the house at random bumping into every object. Is there anything we can do improve his condition? Any help will be appreciated.

Dear Kay,

Have you taken your dog to your veterinarian? Are you giving insulin? It seems that your dog's blood sugar is very high. It is important to have some blood work done as soon as possible. Please let us know what you find out and what therapy you are using. Then we can give you some holistic suggestions to help improve the quality of life.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
