Health Questions & Answers

I have a tortie who I have been told has a food allergy and is on some very expensive perscription food for allergies. Last December I noticed she had like a pimple on her which she licked a lot. The vet looked at it and said he wasn't concerned about it being anything dangerous but that it could be removed if I wanted. She since has grown more of these pimple like things. She is generally an itchy cat. Is the medicine advertised on this website safe to try for unknown skin problems. She is otherwise healthy...eats and drinks water daily. She is quite furry so because of all her licking she gets fur balls which Im also trying to relieve her of as the laxatone does not always help. Also will regular vets know about this medicine? Thank you

Dear Sandi,

You can use DERMA-IONX for a variety of skin problems. It stimulates the skin to heal. In addition I would also give probiotics and Omega 3,6,9 to aid the gut and reduce inflammation in the body which in turn helps the skin. Homeopathy is not taught in veterinary school in the U.S. So most veterinarians here have not studied homeopathy unless they have studied it after graduation. Your veterinarian might not be able to provide you with guidance in that area. They would know about probiotics and essential fatty acids. If you would like more information on homeopathy please let me know.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
