I have a 12 year old yellow lab and I'm really disturbed by his pain. He is my oldest child and I cannot bare to see him crying like he's been doing. He's been to his vet and taken tons of x-rays and blood, heart tests and it turns out the x-rays show him healthier than big part of the labs his age... (????) Anyways, they do show a BIT of inflamation on his spine (arthritis???) and he has been diagnosed to take Rimadyl and Tramadol AS NEEDED. I have a lifetime prescription for him... The thing is this used to be a ONCE A YEAR event that happened during the winter but since the beggining of this year it has stuck to him and I am very upset. Studying about cases like his online I found you and he started taking Anthro-Ionx yesterday but I am giving it to him along with the Rimadyl and Tramadol because he is in the middle of a crisis and has been crying to walk around...

Is this correct? Should I start your medications along with the meds prescribed by the vet? I just ordered some bottles of Promaxol since I just learned about this one now...

Can you help me ?

One of his hind legs is what to me seems to be the problem but the x-rays of the knees show nothing!

Hope your meds work! I'm really desperate.

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Let me know.

Dear Bruna,

You may use Arthro-IonX or Promaxol along with other medications or supplements. It is homeopathic in nature and so it will not negatively interact with other physical substances. However, I do not recommend Rimadyl in Labradors. There have been bad side effects reported in that breed. I would ask for a different brand if you need to use a NSAID for a while. Arthro-IonX and Promaxol help to decrease pain and inflammation and stimulate healing. With improvement, some owners can decrease the amount of drugs used. I would start with Promaxol and then switch over to Arthro-IonX as you begin to see changes. You can use both at different times of the day - just give smaller doses of each. In addition, I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany Arthro-IonX. The supplements I recommend are digestive enzymes with meals, MSM, probiotics, vitamin C, and fish oil. Arthro-IonX will help the body to better utilize the nutrition for a synergistic response. Also, I have found most older dogs benefit from an evaluation from a veterinary chiropractor. Please let us know how you do or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
