Please advise me: My Schitzu suddenly hurt her back/front leg. The vet x-rayed and found nothing. She has been on Prednisone 5mg/day and she can walk, but she is not much improved. Vet said it may be arthritis. Can you advise whether I should remove the prednisone and replace with Arthro-IonX?

Dear Liz,

You can give Arthro-IonX along with the Prednisone; as you see improvement begin to decrease the Prednisone. You cannot suddenly stop giving the steroid because it needs to be tapered off gradually, which your veterinarian has probably already instructed you about. In addition, I find it helpful to take a holistic approach. Give digestive enzymes with meals, probiotics and a high quality fish oil supplement daily. It will work synergistically with Arthro-IonX to bring relief, decrease inflammation, and stimulate the body to heal. You will need to give Arthro-IonX for a while even though it may offer pain relief quickly because true healing takes a longer time to achieve. This is okay because Arthro-IonX does not have the negative side effects that steroids do, such as increased thirst and urination or damage to stomach or liver. Please let us know how you progress or if you have any more questions.
