My 12 yr old Cocker spaniel has had skin allergies most of his life. He developed a red, hot very raw rash which made his hair fall out and his skin turn black in places. Recently, Copper was diagnosed with stapylococcus psuedointermedius. He is now on his sixth round of chloramphenical. His rash does clear up mostly, but he breaks out again 2-3 days after completing the antibiotics. I was wondering if any of the products you have would help Copper overcome this horrible bacterial infection. His vet also prescribed Apoquel 16mg. to help his skin.

Dear Carol,

You might want to look at some of our products to help the skin. DERMA-IONX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include PROBIOTICS and OMEGA 3,6,9. The PROBIOTICS are especially important when there has been antibiotic use. Together with DERMA-IONX it produces a synergistic effect. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. As for diet, if your dog is not allergic to these protein sources you might try a fish or turkey based grain free food since these are considered cooling according to Chinese food therapy. You would want to avoid chicken or lamb which are warming for the skin if it is already too warm. Beef is neutral. Avoid treats that have artificial colorings. These supplements can be use along with Apoquel.

If you need to bathe him DEFENDEX shampoo is very soothing. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions or to let us know how you are doing.

Best wishes,
