My 10-year old Chow was diagnosed with diabetes last week. I’m giving 12 units of insulin 2 times a day now. (The vet is conservative - will recheck in 4 days and probably increase.) The blindness already apparent. I have just ordered Dia-IonX to help him. Is there anything you'd recommend to help with the blindness, in addition to this product? Anything at all?

Dear Jane,

There is an eye drop that could help with the blindness but it is very costly. It is called OcluVet. You might want to ask your health food store if they have anything similar.

Besides Dia-IonX, I find it helpful to give digestive enzymes with each meal, a probiotic, and a fish oil supplement daily. Dia-IonX will help the other supplements be better utilized for faster results. Be sure to monitor the blood glucose levels in case you need to adjust the insulin dosage. Provide sufficient fresh clean water that is free of chlorine and fluoride. Also, getting into a regular moderate exercise schedule is very important. Exercise helps to move glucose from the blood into the muscles. This will help with better blood glucose regulation.

Please keep us informed of your progress and feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions. It is important to get the condition under control quickly so that it reduces the chance of other complications developing.

Sincerely,
Dr. Char
