Have an eleven years old golden retriever that is on Novox 100mg twice a day. A friend told us about Anthrp-IonX and have been giving it to him twice a day...he does pretty good but not as good as the Novox. Wondering if I should change to Promaxol or use the two together. He is also taking your Omega 3/6/9 also....do not want to use the Novox because of bad side effects.

Dear Nida,

I would give a half dose of PROMAXOL once or twice a day as needed in addition to two half doses of ARTHRO-IONX given with breakfast and supper. Besides OMEGA 3,6,9 I would also give probiotics. Drugs damage the intestinal flora and so giving probiotics help to restore the flora. Avoid chlorinated water since that is not good for the flora either. The foods you feed can also affect the joints. If your dog is warm and tends to seek cool places, then feeding cooling foods especially during the hot months might make your dog more comfortable according to Chinese food therapy. Fish and turkey are cooling. Beef is neutral. Chicken and lamb are warming. During the summer I prefer to feed a grain free diet that uses beef, fish, or turkey as the protein source. If there is an allergy to a protein do not use it even if it has the correct thermal property. If your dog is cool and seeks warm places then a warming diet is better. The food I select is also grain free.

Best wishes,
