Hi - I have a german shepherd with severe arthritis. He is 120 pounds (we keep him leaner - usually 130 lbs) and age 9. He holds his left hind up and the only thing that keeps him comfy enough to use the leg is dexamethasone. Looking for something to help him out. Do you suggest the Pomaxol over the Arthro-IonX since he needs constant pain management to get any use out of the leg.

Dear Kristen,

PROMAXOL is ARTHRO-IONX plus the LM potencies of each of the individual ingredients. If a condition is severe I start with PROMAXOL and then switch over to ARTHRO-IONX for maintenance. For either one, initially I give a half dose twice daily on the breakfast and supper meals. If you need to you can give one or two additional half doses as needed. With improvement I switch to a whole dose once a day. It is best to give the homeopathic at a time away from the steroid so the body has time to focus on the homeopathic before being asked to respond to the drug.

I would also give PROBIOTICS and OMEGA 3,6,9 to strengthen the body and reduce inflammation. What kind of food, supplements, and water are you giving? These factors make a difference.

It might be helpful to have your dog evaluated by a veterinary chiropractor. Proper alignment of the hips makes a positive difference in better movement. Acupuncture can also help.

Looking forward to your reply regarding the above questions.

Best wishes, Dr. Char www.vetionx.com
