Why are horses chewing bark, is it harmful and how do I stop it?

Dear Patricia,

Your horses may have a mineral need or they may be bored. Do they crib when they are in a stall? You might want to give them a mineral supplement and also H2O-IonX to aid digestion and utilization. To keep them from chewing the bark you would need to fence the trees off from them. You could also get them some toys such as a jolly ball or exercise ball to play with.
