Health Questions & Answers

My 7 yr. old Keeshound had an operation for cysts on his back. Shortly after that he has gone down in the back, acts like he has a cold in his nose and eyes, I have been giving him allergy and over the counter hip meds. I read on the internet about IONx for hip dysplasia. Do you think it is to late for him or should I try it. This has been going on for over 2 months. This is my last resort.

Dear Carol,

I think it would be worth using ARTHRO-IONX or PROMAXOL for your dog. They both help to decrease pain and weakness and stimulate healing. I prefer to start with PROMAXOL and switch to ARTHRO-IONX after some improvement is seen. In addition I will tell you other things that I have found to be helpful for other dogs. They include probiotics, MSM, Omega 3,6,9, and a choline/B vitamin product such as Geri-Form. ARTHRO-IONX and PROMAXOL both can help the body better utilize the other supplements. Together it has a synergistic effect for faster results. In addition I would suggest you have your dog evaluated by a veterinary chiropractor just in case the pelvis or lower back has shifted. If there is extra pressure on any nerve it will cause weakness in the rear end. I have seen dogs do well with this approach, but each case is different because each patient starts from a different place. Please let us know how you progress and if you have any other questions. I would be happy to help you with other suggestions if you inform us of the response you are getting.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
