Health Questions & Answers

I have a cockerpug and she is 1 1/2yrs old. She has very dry, flaky skin that is contantly itchy. She also has a very strong smell even a day after we bath her. We have tried the oatmeal shampoos and green tea shampoos but nothing seems to work. She is loosing hair in places she scratches the most and has these red irritated bumbs where her boobies are. We cannot afford taking her to a vet right now because of financial situations, but is there anything we can do for her at home that will make it go away and give her relief. She is so beautiful but we see more of the back of her head then her beautiful face because she won't stop itching and scratching. Thank you in advance for any help you can give us. Sincerely, Dee

Dear Dee,

Derma-IonX has helped soothe troublesome skin for may pets. I would suggest you try it because it helps with reducing irritation and facilitates healing. Besides being given orally, it can also be sprayed onto the skin as well.

I would also recommend bathing with non-chlorinated water if possible. Our shampoo, Defendex, is a good one to use. It is nontoxic and can help remove debris. An added bonus is that if there are any insects on the pet they will be killed.

If you have any other questions please let us know.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
