Health Questions & Answers

Hello, our 12 year of Malamute/Boxer mix has a lot of skin issues. She has re-occurring bacterial and yeast skin infections and has been on several rounds of antibiotics and anti yeast medications over the last couple of years. But the medications make her drink and pee a lot. And I mean a lot. I have to let out several times during night. recently she is limping heavily and the stairs are becoming more and more difficult to climb for her. There is something growing in her paw that puffs up, will then bleed and ooze and then become smaller again. Anyway, I am giving her now Derma-IonX twice a day and spray all the spots with the yeast infections on her body. She loses the fur their and the skin turns dark so there are easy to spot. Is Derma-IonX suggested to treat yeast? Do you have any other ideas or suggestions? Thank you, Rashke

Dear Rashke,

Derma-IonX can be helpful for yeast but there are other things I would do to help the situation along. You might want to look at some of our products to help heal the skin. Derma-IonX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include Canine probiotics, vitamin C, MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with Derma-IonX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. For the dietary modifications you might want to try a grain free diet for a while.

Defendex shampoo which is nontoxic washes away debris and soothes the skin. Using these products is a simple and effective way of helping resolve a difficult condition. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
