Health Questions & Answers

Is there anything I can do for my 10 year old Black Lab, who somehow chipped a bone in his left shoulder. The vet said it would cost between $3-5 thousand dollars for microscopic surgery to remove chip. I can't afford that. The shoulder is swollen and he can't bear to put weight on it. He takes Rimadyl 100mg, 1 tablet daily and Cosequin DS, 2 in the am and 2 in the pm for arthritis. The vet now has him on Clavamox 375mg twice a day (antibiotic for possible infection). Is there anything else I can do????

Dear Karen,

You may use Arthro-IonX along with other medications or supplements. It is homeopathic in nature and so it will not negatively interact with other physical substances. You can use Rimadyl along with Arthro-IonX to provide comfort while healing is occurring. Healing takes more time than just suppressing symptoms. Arthro-IonX helps to stimulate healing. In addition I find it helpful to follow a holistic approach by giving some nutritional supplements to accompany Arthro-IonX. The supplements I recommend are Canine Probiotics, MSM, Vitamin C, and Omega 3,6,9. Arthro-IonX will help the body to better utilize the nutrition for a synergistic response.

I would also get a copy of the X-rays and get quotes from some other veterinarians. Country vets or teaching hospitals are often a little less expensive. Please let us know how you progress or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
