My Rat Terrier has a mild irritation on his back. I could tell how the hair was laying something was up. From a slight angle it looked like the hair is standing up a bit more than the rest and when I looked to see what it was the skin was very red. He seems to be rolling around a bit more than usual... kinda scratching it... What might it be and should I go to a vet. Sheri

Dear Sheri,

If it very bad such as being infected then you should see your veterinarian. Otherwise you could try Derma-IonX. Derma-IonX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include Canine probiotics, vitamin C, MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with Derma-IonX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. For the dietary modifications you might want to try a grain free diet for a while.

Defendex shampoo which is nontoxic washes away debris and soothes the skin. Using these products is a simple and effective way of helping resolve a difficult condition.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.
