Dr. Char,

Will Dia-IonX be all that is needed to treat an 11 year old Miniature Schnauzer who has diabetes or will she have to be on insulin injections as well? Her glucose is 580. She was on Hills wd for crystals for several years. Our vet switched food to Royal Canan and that is when her diabetes came on. We have switched back to Hills and she seemed to do better, but now she is going downhill again. We would appreciate any advice you could give us.

Thank you,
Karen

Dear Karen,

You will probably need to get started on insulin to bring the glucose level down. Give the Dia-IonX and monitor closely so you will know if it is necessary to reduce the insulin dosage because the body doesn't need as much. By supplementing minerals in the diet it can act as catalyst for reactions in the body and improve many functions.

I also recommend pancreatic enzymes be given because the pancreas also makes other enzymes and those too might also be low at this time.

Please let us know how you progress. Thank you.

Best wishes,
Dr Char
