We have a miniature schnauzer with a heart murmur (controlled with 5 mg enalapril maleate bid--still present tho) and with progression of probable hip or spine arthritis. She is almost 11 years old. We know her cruciate ligament is intact, and a couple months ago, her left rear hip was ok per xray, tho she had lost muscle mass and did not always want to bear weight on that hind leg. Now, however, she seems to be having difficulty bearing weight/moving with right rear LE as well. She is on Rimadyl ( now bid) and the enalapril, and I just began giving her an advanced glucosamine with omega fatty acids. She is having much more difficulty moving around the past couple days, and wincing at times with movement. My question is: would she benefit from the Arthro-IonX and Omega 3/6/9, to be given with her heart med? Or is it too late based on her age and med history? I appreciate and thank you for your time in advance. Sincerely, Patti

Dear Patti,

It is not too late to give the supplements. However you should not give a pharmaceutical drug and ARTHRO-IONX at the same time. Space it out. I prefer to give a half dose of ARTHRO-IONX with breakfast and supper. It is easy to add to the food because it is liquid and neutral in taste. You can give Omega 3,6,9 with food as well.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
