Health Questions & Answers

We have a 12 year old beagle who started itching and losing patches of hair (skin is attached to hair when it falls out). We took him to the vet and he was given cream. We did medicated baths and it relieved the itching for a bit. Now he is not only losing on his back but he scratches and bites at his entire body. His skin is red in some areas and vet can't figure out the cause. Anything we can do. The vet did not think there were mites.

Dear Cathi,

You might want to look at some of our products to help heal the skin. DERMA-IONX which is an oral homeopathic product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body which reduces itching and inflammation, promotes healing of the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. The supplements I use along with it include Canine probiotics, vitamin C, MSM, and Omega 3,6,9. Together with DERMA-IONX it produces a synergistic effect for a faster response. I would also suggest that you give your dog only filtered water for drinking and bathing if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. For the dietary modifications you might want to try a grain free diet for a while.

DEFENDEX shampoo which is nontoxic washes away debris and soothes the skin. Using these products can help to resolve a difficult condition. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,

Dr. Char
