Health Questions & Answers

My 2 year old Labradoodle has chronic sores and bleeding at the tips of both ears. One is much worse than the other. The vet can't say exactly what it is or how to make it go away. The dog has no allergies, and we're waiting on a biopsy report. My dog scratches his ears ALL DAY long, yet I've been told his ears are clean and there's nothing wrong with them. What can make his incessant scratching stop??????

Dear Donna,

I would try Derma-IonX to help the cells hydrate and cleanse. That may provide some relief. While you don't know what is actually going on in the body, I would try the basics: give a pure natural diet such as a commercially prepared raw-food diet, enzymes such as bromelain between meals to help break down histamine which is being released from the damaged tissue, and probiotics such as Purina's Fortiflora to help improve digestion and aid the flora to manufacture B vitamins which are consumed more rapidly during stress. That scratching is causing some stress. Derma-IonX should help stimulate the skin to heal. Many dogs have found relief using the product. Please keep us updated on your progress or tell us if you recall anything that preceded the beginning of the scratching episode. With more information we can offer more specific suggestions.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
