I have my dog on Arthro-IonX - been on it for a number of years and it's great! She is 15.5 years old now - my vet says she has pancreatitis and she has absolutely NO symptoms?! He says she has kidney disease as well and now has her on a special food - low protein but the new food has more fat and less fiber than the current food we had her on? They said she needs a multi vitamin but I don't trust my vet anymore and wonder what you would suggest. I have her blood test results IF you would be willing to look them over and make suggestions?? Thank you so much for your time and your help

Dear Tooie,

I do not like to feed corn and Brewers rice in the prescription food if there are other choices. Maybe you could check with your local pet food store and ask for a premium grain free food that is closer to those percentages. What are the actual ingredients in the Costco food? I only saw the percentages. I would look for fish or turkey as the protein source if your dog is not allergic to these. According to Chinese food therapy these proteins are cooling for hot conditions. Beef is neutral. Chicken, lamb, and venison are warming. So if your dog is warm and organs inflamed it is better to not feed a lot from the warm category. The multivitamin is OK but you might want to check if some of it is synthetic or if it comes from whole food.

Please let us know what you find.

Best regards,
