Our JRT has patchy scabs and itches constantly. His elbows are raw from licking. We have tried many remedies, steroids and shots which now has given him pancreas problems. Special shampoos, crème rinse for fungus, etc… We are at our wits end. How can this help him, when nothing else has? Also, will it irritate his pancreas?

Dear Nina,

Derma-IonX is a homeopathic product that reduces itchiness and inflammation in the skin. The oligotherapeutic mineral base in the iONX product stimulates the enzyme systems in the body to aid healing. It also facilitates better utilization of other nutritional supplements taken in. The other supplements that I recommend are digestive enzymes, MSM, probiotics, and fish oil. Together with Derma-IonX there is a synergistic effect for faster healing. If you don't know what your dog's allergen triggers are you could ask your veterinarian for an allergy test in which a blood sample is taken and checked against common allergens. If you don't want to do that you could try feeding a hypoallergenic diet such as fish and potato. It is also important to give adequate amounts of fresh water that is free of chlorine and fluoride to drink and also use filtered water to bathe. I have used Zymox shampoo and Zymox Enzymatic Rinse (available from veterinarians) to cleanse and soothe the skin and then Derma-IonX can be sprayed on the sore areas afterwards and between bathes.

Derma-IonX is safe and will not harm the pancreas. It is even safe to use with other medications.

Please let us know how you do or if you have any other questions.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
