I have a 15 year old siamese. He has been itching his ears and neck recently to excess. Nothing has changed in the home environment for him to begin this. He has now created scabs on his outer ear from itching so much. His ears have also lost fur from the itching but his neck is not as bad and has no fur missing. Is there something I can do for him without taking him to the vet?

Dear Megan,

DERMA-IONX is helpful for allergies and a variety of skin conditions. It is an oral homeopathic product which stimulates the enzyme systems in the body and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. I would give a half dose of DERMA-IONX on the breakfast and supper food. After there are signs of improvement you can give a whole dose once a day. I would also give Probiotics. In order to improve health one usually needs to restore the gut flora. OMEGA 3,6,9 would also be helpful to decrease inflammation in the gut and reduce allergy symptoms.

I would also suggest that you give only filtered water for drinking if your water contains chlorine or fluoride. What kind of food are you feeding?

Please keep us updated so we can help guide you along the way.

Best wishes,
