Hi! My cat is diabetic and is on 4 units of Lantus insulin twice a day. Is Arthro-IonX safe for diabetic cats?

Dear Trish,

Any of the homeopathic VETiONX products are safe to use with other medications including insulin. However, the base solution that carries the homeopathics will cleanse the cells and help the enzyme systems in the body to stimulate healing. With Dia-IonX and probably Arthro-IonX it is possible to engage the body to make more functional insulin which would then reduce the body's need for as much exogenous insulin that you are currently giving and so you might need to lower your dose a bit. You don't want to give an overdose of insulin. Purina makes a litter additive that changes color in the presence of sugar in the urine so it would help you judge your progress between blood checks. You would want to have a trace of sugar in the urine, if not, the insulin dose would need to be lowered.

There are some other things that I think would be helpful for your cat. Give digestive enzymes with each meal. Feed canned food and no dry food. Give probiotics such as Purina's Forti-Flora and a little fish oil daily.

The VETiONX products will help the body use the other supplements better. It acts synergistically to reduce pain, stiffness, and inflammation as well as help the body to heal. You might want to consider Dia-IonX first and later decide if you still need to use Arthro-IonX or you could give smaller doses of each at different times.

Please let us know what works for you and if you have any other questions that we can answer for you.

Best wishes,
Dr. Char
