My 2 1/2 year old Great Dane used to love going for rides in 'his' van. He suddenly developed a fear of getting in the van which I can only overcome by putting on his prong collar and literally dragging him into the van. Once inside, he shakes, roams about instead of sitting down, is delighted to get out. I try to make the places I take him fun and interesting but he always does the same thing the next time we have to get into the van, even if it is to go home. What can I do to help him overcome his anxiety?

You might want to try our product called Anxietrex. It helps to reduce fear and anxiety. You could give him a dose and then later have him go into the car for a treat. Try that for a week and then the next week do the same but go for a ride around the block. You can gradually increase the length of the trip.

It sounds like you are not using your prong collar correctly. If you have a pet store with knowledgeable staff that could help you to make sure it is properly sized and then how to do the quick snap, you might have better success. In our area there are dog trainers that will give private lessons and even make house calls so you might want to check if there are any near you.

Please let us know how you do.
