Dear Sandra,

The color changes give ranges. We carry these strips so that owners can be alerted if there is little sugar showing up in the urine they need to contact their veterinarian so that the veterinarian can lower the insulin dosage. Too little sugar in the blood can be life threatening. The strips are accurate but can be affected by how the strip is stored, age of strip, timing of reading, and the quality of the urine sample, ie. storage and time of day. The best measurement is the blood glucose but many people cannot do this before each insulin administration.

Best regards,
