My German Shepherd is 11 years old. She has been taking synovusg3. Three weeks ago she was diagnosed with chronic and she is slowly recovering. Now, I noticed her back legs are limp and she is struggling with standing up and walking. I read about Arthro-IonX and would like to try it, but I am not sure if the product would have a detrimental impact on the kidney since I do not know whether the contents have phosphorus, proteins, salt, etc. Can you tell me if Arthro-IonX is recommended for my dog?

Dear Vanessa,

Arthro-IonX is very good supplement to give to your dog because it provides trace minerals that act as a catalyst to stimulate healing. Being homeopathic in nature, it would not provide excess material that the body would have to dispose of. We do not want to put stress on the body. In your email a word is missing; my guess is that your dog has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease based upon your concerns. It will be important to give a diet that has high quality protein that is easily digestible. You might also give additional digestive enzymes to ensure good utilization of the proteins being fed. Let us know how this works for you because there are others things that can be done depending upon the response that occurs.

Best wishes,
Dr Char
