My 7 year old male wire-haired fox terrier has a 4 year history of increasing occurrences of scratching his chest, arm pits, groin and now front shoulders, until they bleed. Very strong, foul smell accompanies the episodes which are now almost continuous in nature. We bath him twice a week now. Nizoral shampoo helped for awhile along with a change in diet to Natural Balance Venison and sweet potato. Six weeks ago it was so bad we took him to the vet and he placed him on steroids, antiobiotics, and Hill's ZD dry food. As soon as he was weaned off the steroids he was back to square one. His activity is decreased again and he's back to taking the stairs slowly, one at a time. The cloying smell is back. I make T-shirts for him to wear so that he doesn't make himself bleed with the scratching. We are desperate for Chase to be comfortable and active again. I saw the Derm-Ionx plan and am also investigating the NZymes program. They seem similar in focus. I am seeking your advice. Thank you.
