Health Questions & Answers

I have a fox hound who has spent most of his three years ina and out of shelters. Judging by his actions, I believe he was abused at some point. I have him because my friend, and ber brother before her, couldn't handlt the anxiety. He tore up carpenting and wood work in my friends house. He chews the latches of crates and escapes. I have tried the thundershirt, which scares him more. Now I'm using a pheremone collar and herbal anxiety chews for dogs. I have gradually increased the time I leave him alone which has helped but he still needs more help.

You could try Anxietrex which was formulated using homeopathic remedies that address many types of fear issues. I would also suggest that you exercise him a lot and on a daily basis so that he gets tired. Training classes are also helpful. I also look at diet if there are behavioral issues and usually suggest a grain free diet with a protein such as fish or lamb. Another thing that might be helpful is to have him evaluated by a veterinary chiropractor. Pressure on certain nerves can make dogs a little wired. Please let us know what responses you get and we can continue to make more suggestions.
