My 10 year old beagle/hound mix has numerous fatty cysts on her body. She scratches and digs at these constantly, especially those on her haunches on both sides of her upper back leg. Is there a cancer risk with these? I was told that they are harmless but doggie really is distressed.

Dear Balenda,

Usually the fatty cysts are benign. However, constant biting or scratching at it could damage the tissue and allow cancer to eventually develop. You might try DERMA-IONX to see if it will help make the skin more comfortable. I would also give probiotics to improve digestion and reduce waste products. You could also try acupuncture. In Chinese medicine they consider it to be phlegm congealed. The goal is to move the energy.

Please let us know how you do.
