My 6 year old cat is suffering from what our Vet is calling "environmental allergies". I take him to the Vet who gives him a steroid injection. He responds to it quite rapidly but then after 2-3 months he's suffering again. I do not want him to be injected with steroids every couple of months as I have heard it is not good for their immune system, etc. I ordered the Derma-IonX in hopes that this will help. Am I doing the right thing and is there anything else I can do? Vet says it is not a food allergy. He is on prescription dry food (Cannin SO since he suffered with struvite urine crystals a couple of yrs ago having to undergo surgery). I am afraid to change food for this reason since he has done so well as far as that issue is concerned. Thank you for your opinion.
