Health Questions & Answers

I have an 11 year old dog, Charcoal. I took him to see a vet in Oncology. The doctor took an ultrasound and told me that Charcoal has prostate cancer. I’m on disability, and it is hard to pay for all the visit and meds. I was wondering if you know of any one that could help me with meds? One medicine is called Previcox 57mg, one a day. It cost me $18 for 10 tabs.

One more question, are there any medicines to fight this cancer? I’m so upset!! If there is any way you could help Charcoal, I would really appreciate the help. I don’t understand why they did not put my dog on cancer medication. It’s so hard seeing my dog dying. I just want the best for Charcoal. Do you know of any med vet that could help me? Could you please see if you could help me with the Previcox 57mg. Thank You!!

Dear Gary,

I don't know how you can get cheap Previcox. You might ask your vets if they have samples they could give you or you could call Merial, the manufacturer. There are online pharmacies that offer cheaper prices, but you would need to have your vet give a script.

For your information, what humans have found helpful for prostate cancer has been lycopene, pectin, resversatrol, zinc, and non-GMO soy. Be sure that your dog is not allergic to soy. Ask your health food store about these items. You could also try our product Dia-IonX, because it helps with utilization of zinc, which is very important for prostate health and helps the cells to hydrate and cleanse.

Another treatment that is helpful for pain is high intensity PEMF treatment (Pulsating Electromagnetic Field). I would consider using it to help a cancer patient feel better. It helps with pain, swelling, and inflammation. Check with equine vets in your area to see if someone has the device. It has been used more widely with high performance horses.

Hope these suggestions help you with a course of action.
