I purchased Arthro-IonX a couple months ago and at first it worked great; in fact, it still is working pretty good, but he's started to limp again. Can I increase the dosage to 2 teaspoons twice a day or is there something else I can do?

He is a 9 year old Border Collie mix that is a rescued dog. His right hip and back seem to give him a lot of pain but with Arthro-IonX he is a lot better at getting in and out of the car. But he is starting to limp again. Also, could he be developing a tolerance for the stuff?

Dear Jack,

Are you doing 3/4 teaspoons twice daily? You can also try giving the allotted amount divided into 3 doses instead of 2. There is some room for increasing the total daily amount, but if you give too much at one time the stool could become soft. The other things that help most older animals include the following: give digestive enzymes with each meal, and a probiotic and a fish oil supplement daily. Arthro-IonX helps the body better utilize the other supplements.

Another thing that you could do would be to have a certified animal chiropractor evaluate your dog. If the pelvis isn't lined up quite right, a simple adjustment can make a big difference.

Please let us know what happens and I can suggest some other things depending upon the response that you get, or clarify any of the above recommendations.
