Health Questions & Answers

My 7yr old Doberman has very dry, ichy, flaky skin, no matter what we give or do for him. He is a liver disease survivor and is in process of thyroid diagnosis. He is not on any meds right now but gets 3 Benedryl pills and krill oil and plain yogurt in his food once daily. With his medical history do you think he can take Derma-IonX? I am mostly concerned about his liver condition.

Dear Leeanna,

DERMA-IONX is helpful for many skin conditions. It is an oral homeopathic product which stimulates the enzyme systems in the body that aids the skin and helps with assimilation of nutritional components in diet and supplements. What sets it apart from most homeopathics is that it is in an oligotherapeutic mineral base which has had a charge added to it. DERMA-IONX would be safe for the liver. Due to the compromised liver we want to slow down the detoxification process.

Initially I would give one drop of DERMA-IONX on the breakfast and supper food. Each day increase by one drop twice daily until you reach a half dose twice daily. If he becomes sluggish go back to the prior dose. I would also give additional Probiotics to aid the immune system.

Diet can also influence the skin. What do you feed your dog? What kind of water do you give?

Please keep us updated so we can help guide you along the way.

Best regards,

Dr. Char
