Health Questions & Answers

I have a 13 year old Japaneze/Poodle mix that is diabetic. She is controled with special diet and 4 units of insulin 2X daily but has breath so bad that we can barely tolerate her sleeping with us. Is there something available that we can give her that would not affect her sugar levels? The vet says she can't have the rawhide bones that used to control her breath because they add sugar when cureing the rawhide.

If bad breath isn't solved by a dental cleaning then the odor is coming up from the stomach. That means you need to improve digestion. I would use Dia-IonX and some supplements such as digestive enzymes, probiotics, and fish oil. The Dia-IonX will help with better utilization of them for a synergistic effect. To chew on you could try celery or broccoli. I hope you find something to keep her happy.
